Cabot B vs Downend F

Cabot B vs Downend F

Cabot B 1½ - 2½ Downend F

Sorry, but not much of a report due to my own struggle.

Bilal was material up, coming out of the middle game with a bishop advantage. But agreed a draw after losing a rook.

Billy went for an attack from the word go with on onslaught against the king, I thought Alan had enough pieces to defend with Billy yet to use the rooks. But after I looked Billy must have found a way through as he went on to win the game.

Sam had an excellent game. It was close all the way through with his opponent probing during the early exchanges and an extra-pawn, although isolated. Sam recovered and went a-pawn up and started to play for a passed-pawn before spotting a fork and capturing his opponents bishop, thereafter with a little careful play Sam achieved a winning position and his opponent resigned.

My game was a struggle after grabbing the e-pawn in Alekhine's defence and playing carelessly shortly after. I did recover after a fork later on but my King was exposed with 2 doubled-pawns i front of the King, my opponents 2 bishops dominated and I lost the game with just 6 mins on my opponent's clock.

I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
