The B team produced a commanding performance away to Bristol University B, sealing an emphatic 5½–½ victory and with it securing promotion back to Division 1.

On top board, Peter Chaplin faced Adrian Renzo Munoz in the evening’s most balanced encounter. Both players handled proceedings solidly, and with neither able to create decisive chances, the game was agreed drawn.

That was as good as it got for the hosts. Humphrey Andolo put Downend ahead with a convincing win over Mohit Mohan, and Alexis Malibiran soon doubled the advantage, finishing confidently against Charles Munro. Martin White then made it three wins on the bounce, converting well against Oscar Crosthwaite to put the match beyond doubt.

Bristol University defaulted the bottom two boards, allowing Aldrin Malibiran and Dave Tipper to collect the remaining points without play and complete a dominant scoreline.
