That the D team were able to cement their mid table position with a solid performance against South Bristol B.
Having noticed that Dave on the next board had a better position, I took the opportunity to offer Jason an early draw, which he accepted. Not early enough, as it transpired, because John had already notched up a half point against Ed. James was not long after us, comfortably holding Colin for a third draw.
All of which left it for Dave and Dan to see if they could eke out a win or two with White while the Mighty Passmore tried to remember the correct move order in the French Defence, which he has been doing for more years than he cares to remember to my certain knowledge!
Dave was first to oblige, when Sam mislaid a piece and compounded his problems by giving up an exchange, leaving him a whole rook down. Dan followed suit, after Rod gave up a piece for pressure before also losing the exchange later on. Mike was under some pressure from Andrew's pair of advanced knights but defended coolly and clinched the fourth draw to make the final score a 4-2 win.
It was good to put a stop to a series of disappointing results, with no win for any of our teams since the first week of the month. Division Three is turning out to be an excellent division for providing chess for a variety of our members and is interestingly poised with no team standing out at present.
